Exclusions
You can skip this step.
Your Assignments Are Ready
Only you can see the full list. Don’t share it with participants.
Organizer’s List
Review the assignments and save the results. The downloaded file and printout include every assignment.

The screen shows the first assignments. Downloads, copying, and printouts include the full list.
Participant Cards
Six cards fit on US Letter or A4. Choose the paper size above, cut along the dotted lines, and fold each card before handing it out.
In the print dialog, choose “Save as PDF” if you want a digital copy. The recipient’s name is inside the folded card. Give each person only their own card.
Secret Santa Name Generator: Every Assignment in One List
This name generator assigns who gives a gift to whom—no slips of paper or hat needed. Add 3–1,000 participants, set any exclusions, and get your assignments. No account, email address, or phone number is required.
When to Draw Names from a List
Use this tool when you’re organizing an exchange for coworkers, friends, family, or a club. If your list is already in Excel or a group chat, you can paste all the names at once.
You don’t need to meet in person to draw names. The organizer gets the results and can tell each person who they’re shopping for.
How Assignments Work with Exclusions
- Paste names, one per line. If names repeat, add last names.
- Choose who shouldn’t draw each other, such as spouses or people in the same family. You can skip this step.
- Draw names. Each person gives one gift and receives one from someone else. No one draws their own name.
- Download the list for Excel, copy the assignments, or print them.
Exclusions work both ways. If Alex and Jamie shouldn’t draw each other, neither will be assigned to the other. If there are too many exclusions to make a valid draw, the tool will ask you to adjust them.
Who Can See the Results
The organizer sees every assignment. To keep the surprise for everyone else, send each person only their own assignment. If the organizer is participating, they’ll be able to see who drew them.
The draw runs in your browser; names and assignments aren’t sent to a server. Save the results before closing the tab. The downloaded file contains the assignments you drew.
What to Agree on Before the Exchange
Agree on a budget, exchange date, and how you’ll give the gifts ahead of time. Draft a group message with the invitation builder, or collect interests and gift ideas with the Secret Santa wish list form.
Secret Santa rules →Name List Draw vs. Quick Draw
Here, the organizer can see every giver and recipient. This works well for managing a list, printing assignments, or organizing a large group. You share each person’s assignment yourself; this tool doesn’t create personal result links.
Need to share results with a group of 3–9 or send each person a personal result link? Try Quick Draw without an account. Both tools support exclusions.
Example Assignments
Emma gives to Jack, Jack gives to Olivia, and Olivia gives to Emma. In the final list, everyone gives and receives one gift. The organizer sees every assignment and shares each one with the participant.
